Popular temples in Andhra Pradesh will soon provide Ayurveda, Unanai, Sidha and Homoeopathy Centres health care services, apart from running free feeding centres and educational institutions. Temples can partner with the government’s Ayush department (or health department) or can run 10, 30 and 50-bedded hospitals directly on their own. While some of the big temples, including Tirupati, are offering such services, the decision will make it mandatory for about 180 places of worship – with revenues between Rs 5 lakh and Rs 20 lakh – to launch the social services.
