THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, SEPTEMBER 16 The AYUSH department, recently launched by the Kerala government to give a push to traditional systems of medicines, would be allotted more funds, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said here in Thiruvananthapuram on Wednesday. Homeo clinics would be set up in all panchayats in the State, the chief minister said. He was inaugurating a variety of schemes being jointly implemented by the State AYUSH department and the national AYUSH mission (NAM) at the Secretariat Durbar Hall. Pointing out that there were 40 panchayats in the State without a homeo clinic, the Chief Minister said that the govt. proposed to start homeo clinics in these panchayats at the earliest. The Chief Minister also inaugurated AYUSH wellness centres to be set up at the Secretariat and the Legislative complex. Minister for Health V S Sivakumar, presiding over the function, said that the govt.’s emphasis was more on disease prevention than on treatment.
