THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Oommen Chandy will launch the first phase of the Ayush projects here on Wednesday. It includes improving the infrastructure of various Ayush hospitals and opening of holistic centres. In the first phase, projects worth `9.5 crore would be implemented, Health Minister V S Sivakumar said on Tuesday. The government had envisaged projects worth `21 crore to be implemented during this year, he added. As part of the first phase, yoga and meditation centres would be opened at the Secretariat and Assembly for MLAs and government employees. Such Ayush Holistic Centres would be opened at all the ayurveda- homoeopathy hospitals in the 14 districts, he said. He also said that permanent doctors would be appointed as part of Seethalayam, a homoeopathic women’s healthcare programme. As part of the project, the basic facilities of the Nature Cure Hospital at Varkala would be improved. An Ayush tribal mobile medical unit would be set up at Attapadi and a homoeopathic mobile medical unit would be set up at Kanthaloor, Marayoor, Chinnakanal - tribal areas of Idukki.
