Govt promises more powers to Ayush doctors
'Ayush system of medicine is India's important contribution to the world' Hubballi: Health Minister U T Khader has stated that the government would think of giving more powers to Ayush doctors. "Though Ayush doctors have necessary knowledge about the medical profession, they hesitate to treat patients in emergency situations due to lack of powers. Therefore, discussions will be held at the government-level to give them more powers so that they can offer better service," he said. He noted this while speaking after opening the head-office of the Ayush Federation of India (AFI), and launching AFI's website here on Wednesday. "The Ayush system of medicine is India's important contribution to the world. Ayurveda medicine has played a major role in keeping people hale and healthy in earlier days. This Indian system of medicine is gaining popularity once again," he added. Uses of website He said, every district had got a district Ayush doctor to ensure people got the service of the Indian medicine system effectively. He said, the website launched on Wednesday would help bring together the Ayush doctors. Speaking on the occasion, Federation General Secretary Mahaveer Haveri said, S2 states in the country had given powers to Ayush doctors to treat patients in an emergency situation. But Ayush doctors in the State didn't have such powers. If the State government gave powers, Ayush doctors were ready to treat patients in emergency situations. He said, the Federation had 6,000 members. When the government doctors had gone on strike it was Ayush doctors who came to the rescue of patients.
