Job Title: Junior Research Fellow/ Research Associate Location: Delhi Reports to: Project Coordinator & Research Dean Department/Division: Public Health International Institute of Health Management Research (IIHMR), Delhi has been engaged in health management research, education and training to fulfil its mission to dedicate itself to the improvement in the standards of health through better management of health care and related programs. Over the past three decades, the health care and systems research and programs evaluation undertaken at the national and international level by the Institute have made impact on policies and programs in the health sector. IIHMR continues contributing to programs of high national and international relevance in India supported by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India such as evaluation of National AIDS Prevention and Control Program (NACP II), National Leprosy Elimination Program, National Child Labour Project, Study on Global Ageing and Adult Health (SAGE), National Family Health Survey (NFHS) in Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan, and District Level Household Surveys (DLHS) in Reproductive and Child Health in Rajasthan, Punjab and Chandigarh. Over the last 30 years IIHMR has done over 700 national and international level research projects of various kinds. Of relevance to public health the IIHMR, has undertaken research as well as consulting assignments sponsored by World Bank, ICF Macro, EC, DFID and Ministry of Health and among others. For more details please visit our portal: www.iihmr.org Purpose of the Role The opening is linked to the DST project to conduct Geospatial Mapping of Risk Factors for Non Communicable Diseases. The position will involve short duration travelling outside Delhi for the purpose of the project. Key Responsibilities Organize, supervise and participate in the implementation of field activities related to household baseline studies, geospatial mapping, and coordinate related logistical support activities Applicant must have demonstrated ability to collect, analyze and interpret a range of large and small GIS Datasets Develop tools for field study Work collaboratively with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and other specialists on spatially referenced data sets Contribute to report writing Should be responsible for the safe use of their own equipment and ensure the computer equipment does not contravene health and safety. Support the dissemination of statistics and information to all stakeholders via a number of different media, electronically or written reports This job description is not meant to be exhaustive. Essential Qualification and Competencies Graduate degree in engineering disciplines & postgraduate degree in science disciplines or related fields that includes necessary skills in GIS mapping. Experience in working in GIS mapping software ( ArcGIS/ QGIS/ any other is mandatory. At least one year of related experience is preferred. Knowledge of basic statistical methods (SPPSS/ STATA/ R ) and tools. Excellent communication, interpersonal and team work skills including the ability to effectively interact with people at all levels and work effectively in a multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary environment. Fluency in English and Hindi to interact with communities across project sites; knowledge of additional local languages will be highly desirable. Strong analytical and synthesizing skills including the ability to write clear and concise scientific documents and research proposals. Publication record in peer-reviewed international and regional technical journals (desirable) Compensation Salary as per the DST norms.
