Cancer has ranked as one of the leading causes of deaths in India, followed by tuberculosis. According to statistics by the National Cancer Registry Programme of the India Council of Medical Research (ICMR), there has been a 6% increase in the cancer mortality from 2012 to 2014. As per the records of the Revised National Tuberculosis Control Programme, approximately 63,265 casualties were reported in 2011. Initiatives from the Government For cancer The government has approved a scheme in 2013-14 for enhancing the specialised consultative care for cancer in the country.
