A Report on IIHP’s Dr. K.S. Poswal Memorial Seminar

In memory of a renowned homoeopath of KarnalDr. K.S. Poswal, IIHP – Haryana State Chapter, organized a seminarcum its second CME on 6th March 2016 at ICAR – Indian Institute of Wheat and Barley Research, Karnal, Haryana. The program kick started with the welcome shower of Lord Indra who blessed us with a pleasant weather and drizzling rain.

Dr. VimalDhawan, former CCH member from Karnal inaugurated the seminar by saying few words about Dr. K.S. Poswal and his work. Dr. Rajpreet Singh Brar, president IIHP, Haryana welcome all the delegates and invited the speakers of the day to start the session.

The first session was of Dr. Navneet Bidani from Hisar who was greetedwith flowers and best wishes by Dr. Ravi Poswal, son of Dr. K.S. Poswal. The topic selected by Dr. Navneet Bidani was ‘An Obedient Child’. He started with a definition of obedience that it is an act of doing what has been asked the first time, completely, joyfully and without any complaint. He then asked a question that “Is there any rubric that denotes a marked obedient trait in a patient?” Someone said ‘Diligent’, someone said ‘Dutiful’ and someone said, ‘Timid’. Then Dr. Bidani described that how these similar looking rubrics differ with each other. He then explained various reasons by which a child becomes an obedient child. For example how because of strict parental pressure Carcinosin and Alumina becomes obedient and how they are different from each other. How timidity, dutiful or submissive nature, or because of desire for appreciation and his image consciousness a child becomes too obedient. He then explained one by one with reference to the rubrics from Synthesis repertory how this trait predominates in various medicines and the difference in between these medicines. He shared his clinical experience and taught the importance of some rare medicine like Beryllium, Manganum and Palladium in treating children. At last he showed his conversation with Dr. Roger Van Zandvoort, author of complete repertory where he objected that yielding rubric should not be considered as an alternate rubric for obedience. It was quite an interactive session where the delegates cleared their doubts regarding the topic and this session ended up with a loud round of applause.

Post lunch session was of Dr. Jatinder Sharma from Jagadhari, Yamunanagar. His topic was ‘Homoeopathic Tips’. Dr. Manpreet Kaur from Karnal invited him for his session

with flowers. He started with the hard core fact that one can learn more from his failures than from his success. He narrated a couple of cases where he failed on first attempt and only after thorough introspection and learning from his failures he could cure so many such cases in future. He further added that don’t ever feel ashamed of discussing your failures.  Later he proposed that don’t stuck yourself with any particular school of thought, you should not be biased towards a fixed line of case-taking, for example if anyone is giving importance only to the mental symptoms, how will he or she be able to treat a case of an animal where only physical symptoms are present. So each case is different and we should be able to understand when to give importance to physical, mental or pathological symptoms. Then only, we’ll be able to become a successful homoeopath. He then narrated few cases of Cancer, Gangrene and dengue fever where he got wonderful results with medicines like Carcinosin, Helix hydra, Arsenic Album etc. Last few minutes were kind of a rapid-fire session where he gave answers to so many questions by inquisitive delegates like Dr. RakeshDinodia, Dr. Mukesh, Dr. Sandeep and others about importance of thermals and how Sulphur can be given to a chilly person and how you cannot rule out any medicine where everything is matching except thermals, if the totality is matching it’ll surely work. Everybody appreciated his lecture a lot.

Everybody appreciated the team efforts and the seminar concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. VimalDhawan and Dr. Brar. 3rd CME of IIHP – Haryana State will be at Yamunanagaron 3rdApril 2016 and you all can attend it free of charge.
